Singaporean Portraits #2.
Today i decided to go around Yishun again, but focused towards the primary school days era. I used to go to this little shop after school to buy orange ice cream from this uncle, that was about 10 years ago. Thing was, this shop was out of the way, far away from my school and far away from my house, but everyday i still headed there because of this uncle. He deserves an award for being the friendliest uncle ever.
He even recognised me, and did not really hesitate when i asked for his photo, soI thanked him and walked away with my orange ice cream.

Singaporean Portrait #1. Caught him on his ice-cream bike, ringing his bell around the neighbourhood. It was raining, but that did not stop him from entertaining the kids buying ice-cream from his bike. Approached him, bought a chocolate chip ice cream and asked for a portrait. Said no at first, but after warming up to me, he agreed. He even asked about the camera, saying that he wanted to get one for his son. He then got on the bike, and asked me to take another shot. I said thanks and he rode away to the other block.
I’m getting used to approaching strangers now, and also getting used to rejection. Most people just say no, can’t blame them, because who knows? The guy with the camera might take a picture of them and turn it into porn the next day, like christine said. True, true.
art design media faculty test at NTU in the morning went okay. I got lost for abit, before finding my way to the lecture theatre. The place looks more like changi village than anything else. They asked pretty tough questions, like putting emotions to photos, an essay, followed by a cover for that essay and also asked us to draw a sketch, based on a word.
I actually surprised myself. Never knew i could “draw”.
*edit
Some people just disappoint me to an unbelievable extent. such is their lives where everything in the world revolves around them, and when everything stops orbiting, they think something’s wrong.
